One of my favorite parts of traveling to cities I’ve been to before is revisiting beloved spots with cherished memories and finding new, exciting places to make new ones. And New York always delivers on both!
On a recent visit there to launch my new wallcovering collaboration with Fromental, ‘Ambia,’ I dropped by a few fantastic furniture and homewares showrooms while shopping in Soho.
At Roman and Williams’ Guild, I always find the perfect gifts for my most discerning friends. Featuring items made from a curated group of makers, artists and artisans, there’s not a bad choice in the place. The RW Guild Reed Candlesticks work equally well as a matched pair or a collection of the different metallic finishes and sizes. And I can’t get enough of the Kaneko Kohyo Pottery Co.’s pretty floral inspired ceramic tableware. Proving that luxury and beauty can also be durable, the collection is used in the Guild’s Le Mercerie restaurant.
Just across from the Guild is Brooklyn-based furniture and lighting company Roll & Hill’s Mercer Street showroom. Each floor has its own unique feel with vignettes featuring furniture and accessories that complement the selection of Roll & Hill lighting, and best of all, everything on display is for sale.
The Irish furniture maker Orior’s recently opened Soho flagship showroom is quickly becoming a go-to place to find beautifully crafted furniture in classic silhouettes with a decidedly contemporary flair. I love their range of lux materials, like the Irish green marble on their Mara credenza and the gorgeous Maharam fabrics used on their custom chairs. They’ve recently expanded to include a lush offering of rugs, wallpaper and homewares
Indulging in New York’s food and nightlife scene is always on my “to do” list. This trip I met up with friends at Darling at The Park Lane Hotel. Forty-seven floors above Central Park, the rooftop restaurant and lounge was the perfect setting to enjoy drinks and nibbles while gazing at the city lights and post-runway models in town for NY Fashion Week.
